My sister visited me in Brooklyn this weekend and she came with a delivery from one of my favorite vintage stores, Vintage Alley. The owner, Colleen, had posted an image of the item for sale one minute before I saw it on IG stories. It was one of those moments that makes me love vintage, secondhand or thrift shopping so much. I didn’t know I needed it until now. Instead of getting caught up in the algorithm or impulse purchasing because of an ad I was fed, it was the universe who brought it to me. To me, it feels like fate. Others might say I’m crazy. Lucky for me my sister lives closer to the store than I do so she is sure to get a call asking her to stop by when I find something I love. In this case….a Celine Boogie Bag.
As soon as I purchased it, I couldn’t wait for my sister to arrive. Throughout the week I thought about all the ways I’d style her, all the places she’d go with me, and all the things she would carry. I even jotted some ideas down in the notes section of my phone. Does anyone else’s notes section get dumped on with all the thoughts in your brain?

Celine Bag
There’s something to be said about a classic bag and what makes it a classic— the shape, the length of the handles, the material, the inside pockets, the versatility, the color. Classics transcend trends and can last more than a lifetime if taken care of. Not only that, there are so many ways to make classics fit your personal style. When my sister arrived at my apartment on Saturday I was wearing the outfit I picked out since I committed to using my new bag that day.
Knowing the bag was going to be my new go-to, I started searching for other unique colors. A variety of secondhand sites have options from pristine to very used depending on what you want to pay. If you’re on a tight budget, purchasing a very used bag gives you the opportunity to support a small business in your neighborhood— your local leather repair shop.
